Abstract
With the research reported on here we aimed to assess the impact of the reading motivation of 4th-grade elementary school students’ on their motivation towards social studies. We used the cross-sectional survey model in the research. The participants in the study were 270 fourth-grade elementary school students studying in the Balıkesir province of Türkiye. The research data were collected using the reading motivation scale developed by Wigfield and Guthrie (1997) and adapted to Turkish by Yıldız (2010), and the social studies course motivation scale developed by Tahiroğlu and Aktepe (2015) for 4th- and 5th-grade students. A significant relationship was found between the reading motivation scale and the social studies course motivation scale. The model fit indices were determined to be acceptable.
